Yes. This is the dreaded haircut.
My grandmother and I seem to be sporting similar haircuts.
However she was an older woman whereas I was a young girl about to start kindergarten.
Not okay.
My mother gets made fun of to this day about cutting it.
I get made fun of for wearing it. But again, kindergarten age people. I didn't really have a say.
At least hair grows right? And grow it did. Away from that mistake.
This photograph was taken in Florida at my great grandparents 50th wedding anniversary.
I don't remember much about that night to be honest.
I remember other parts of the trip, like when we went to Disney World.
But I remember very little about that night.
I do remember an African American woman serving food and watching her as she did.
I was mesmerized by her for some reason.
I remember wanting to go swimming all night (the house had a pool).
I remember this specific moment of my grandma helping with the cake.
But that's it. Mostly I just can't stop looking at that hair.
Poor thing.

Yeesh, I had this SAME haircut for like my whole childhood. I should show you pictures. I am seriously not kidding. Good thing we grew up beautifully despite our mothers' poor attempts at hair cutting. :)
ReplyDeleteAt least u didn't have a permed mullet like I did! My grandma got me the mullet without my moms permission & my mOm was so mad, she tried to "fix" it with a perm! Yeah I was HOT! I'll have to find u a pic!
ReplyDeleteLove the hair! :) I actually remember when it was like that in elementary! It didn't seem too bad back then! :)
